February saw us heading off to the bright lights of London for the Art Deco inspired wedding of the beautiful Lizzie and Joe in Chelsea. The couple had actually ‘legally’ got married the day before, but wanted a blessing in the stunning surroundings of Chelsea Old Church. The church is steeped in history, being the church that Henry VIII married Jane Seymour in, and is formed by part of Thomas Moores private chapel. Lizzie looked radiant in her flowing tulle one shouldered dress, and the bridesmaids looked the epitome of glamour in their red and black dresses and stylish up do’s.
After the ceremony, the couple headed off to the reception in a black London Taxi cab, with the bridesmaids following in a white cab and the rest of the guests in a red London Routemaster bus fully stocked with champagne for the journey across London.
The reception venue was the Art Deco inspired Belvedere Restaurant which is owned and run by Marco Pierre White (who also got married here back in 2000), and which looked fantastic with Lizzies red, white and black colourscheme. Joe is a cricket fanatic so in honour to this, the table names and table plan had a cricket theme to them.
The Belvedere is set in the heart of Holland Park which boasts ornate Japanese gardens and the archway ruins of a Jacobean mansion that stood on the spot (before being bombed in the war) and gave us endless settings for Lizzie and Joes couple shots.
As darkness fell, The Belvedere was lit by candlelight and seemed to transport everyone back to the ‘roaring twenties’ filled with Art Deco opulance and glamour as the couple and guests ate then danced the night away, led by Lizzie and Joe’s choreographed first dance.
